Story of Brave lady who made my day

Story of Brave lady who made my day

I was at my first Indiblogger meet -Milaap Bangalore IndiBlogger Meet” which took place at “Microsoft Research India Labs Pvt. Ltd” near Bangalore club.

I was obviously happy in meeting fellow bloggers who have been writing for years, with a hope of happiness in this kind of social meets, expecting a lot of fun, I was at #HopeProjectAs expected event started well with beautiful girlAditi” initiated the event that could challenge the scribblers like me, it was to describe the meaning of hope in one word.

Each of us in the meet wrote our great thinking in a word which showed the zeal of the event. “Education” “Unity” “Congnizance” “Truth” “smile” “ Health” “ Security” “Renaissance” etc. These were the word of hope that came out on paper and photographs.

 The word of  Hope

Never says Nope

The event went even further when each of the bloggers introduced themselves and their blogs. Each of them Explained the word “ Hope” for them. When my turn came I was nervousand I stuttered to utter words, heartbeat increased, fear in mind increased my body temperature, sweat flow all through my body, Hush! I finished my introduction.

After this, the real event initiated, the event for which we were all at Microsoft Research Labs. Milaap  #HopeProject .

The Hope Project is a campaign that aims to inspire urban masses towards, empowering rural women entrepreneurs through small contributions. What makes this project special is that the women in this case are ex-Devadasis and the possibility of self-reliance is a ray of fierce hope for them. Within the Devadasi system, young girls are “married” to the temple goddess. This merciless practice, though illegal, still exists in small towns of India.

The event was to raise funds for the welfare of the women who came out of “Devadasi” system; and, this is where I got my chance to talk, the stories they put on slides impressed me, after which when I got up to talk, the fear in me disappeared and I boldly put up my points to reach the root of cause to eradicate the evil. After all this there was one more event of puzzle and high tea.

Once the tea session was over “Milaap” team member introduced “Sitavva’ a lady who braved the society to come out of Devadasi system. Being a former devadasi, she fought really hard and jumbled hundreds of other Devadasis, rescued them from the black system and formed a union called as “MASS”. With the help of “Ministry of women and Child welfare”  they reached the root of the cause and the weed was in threat,  they legally took the issue and penalized the culprits who force the girls into the system despite of ban, and result was the eradication of Devadasi system in the entire Belgaum district of Karnataka. Sitavva says this proudly and her desire are still high, to rescue the women in the entire state and country. She emerged a leader, a brave musketeer who penalized the evils in the society.

In her speech she also told some of the lesson known behind the system. She told only  the girls of lower cast are made “Devadasi’s”. “Poverty”, “Lack of Rain”, “Lonebaby girl for the parents” “Girl born after many boy babies” and so many of them are the resons behind the evil. It was un-fortunate to know the silly reasons, which were the seeds of poison  and which has grown as a tree of the evil system in the society.

After her speech I went to “Sitavva” and had a little conversation with her in north Karnatakan dialect, where she expressed some more strange things. She told "Government stopped helping them, corruption filled in the women and child welfare department, neither ministers nor official’s respond to their requests, society see them lower despite of coming into the main stream of life, their children won’t get good jobs, their daughters won’t get boys to marry". Talking to me her eyes grown wet, and I was stunned silent. The black is not only the system, but the society itself; which still sees these brave ladies as culprits. The problem is in politics and corruption, the challenge is to eradicate the superstition in the people that is inherited in our blood.
Whatever; the work of Sitavva and the work Milaap  and everyone has to say “Hats off” to their effort. And everyone should give the help in all means for the cause they are working for and here is the no of Sitavva-94489952899.

Wishing Everyone a Happy and safer Diwali

Wishing Everyone a Happy and safer Diwali

Diwali is a treat to eyes, every Indian streets gleam with colors and flash of light. Beautiful Indian women, cute little angel like children and hardworking Indian men looks great on the day after wearing a classic new clothes and ethnic wears.

Indian houses will be charmed with the fresh look of new painted walls, with every door and corners looking beautiful after ornamented with green leaves of mango and coconut, canes, varieties of flowers and many more of them. Every House smells sweet because of the number of sweets that are prepared for the festival. The aroma is really a whiff of the great Indian culture and the tangy celebration.

For everyone it’s usual to greet and wishing the best.

Overall                                                                                                                                                       Diwali is a carnival                                                                                                                                     Is there anybody who dis-like the fest?                                                                                                     Because it’s the essence of feast and delight

One of the most fascinating things about Diwali is burning of crackers; from Children of age 9 youngsters, from hot blood lads to bashful girls, every one burn crackers in India. Hence the festival looks simply a joyous one and real pomp.

But the same delight looks blight because of the accidents that happens every year on the occasion of Diwali. Don’t know how many of them loose the sight in the bliss of delight. As the quote says "darkness prevails just behind the light". Darkness touches so many lives just after the festival of lights.

If we go through the statistics about the accidents that take place in cracker industries at Sivakasi- where India’s 70% crackers and matches are produced. They give some shocking stats.

1991- 39 killed 65 injured
2009- 40 killed
2011- 7 killed 5 injured
2012- 40 killed 38 injured

Despite these major ones, there are lots of unnoticed accidents too.

Along with accidents, it’s a matter of air and sound pollution which should be the matter of concern. If we look at this aspect. The best solution is to reduce, if we cannot stop the cracker burning.

Whatever is the he aspect, the fest is a fest and safety is must.

Happy and safe Diwali to everyone.

Do It In Your Way But Boost The Children

Do It your way But boost the Child

A two year child was suffering with mild disease characterized by watery diarrhea and low grade fever in a village of India is always thought as an early sign of tooth development and in most of the cases it looks right too.

Gradually the child’s symptoms turn from mild to slight severity on day one, where the child been provided with some syrups of paracetamol and loperamide which did not help. On the day two, the condition of the child turns severe with a lot of watery diarrhea and vomits until the child was hospitalized and take to the intensive care unit.

The child was provided with re-hydration drips without diagnosing, which eventually did not do a great job as well; finally, the child succumbs. The story must look so easy, but the condition will not be so different for many diarrheal infections caused by bacteria like Campylobacter,Salmonella enteritidis, Shigella, Clostridium difficle: Protozoans like Entamoebahystolytica,Giardia:  Deadly viruses like Rota virus which will be main but lesser known culprit to the world along with Adeno viruses and Astero viruses.

But these dangers cannot harm adults; because of the immune mechanism that is well developed , but not well developed in infants and children who are under five years.

It might be simple disease that prevail everywhere, but for children it is a dangerous . These disease  kill about 1.5 million children every year.

Children's health is truly dependent on its environment, and every one of us has a greater responsibility, but mother and her caretakers are crucial.

A mother is everything to a child, from the day of the zygote formation. Immunity for a  child should come from mothers placenta, where only IgG class of antibody could cross. Apart from IgG, it is IgA class of antibody that provide passive immunity through breast milk. Therefore it is necessary to take care of mother to keep the child healthy after birth. This is where, the child’s immune system should be to be boosted and it is the basement for healthy life.

How many of Indian women meets requirement that are necessary to give birth to a child? It is very stinging one, but the facts tell t most Indian women are deficient of calcium and proteins. The antibodies which are proteins  will be below optimum than required.

“Indian Mothers are malnourished hence Indian children too”

What can be done?
·
The School provide meals to children who are above 3 years, But what about those who are below 3? is This has to be monitored .
·
Pregnant women are taken care in hospitals only during the time of labor pain; especially, in government  hospitals on which most of the Indian population depends.
·
A scheme of monitoring pregnant women's nutritional needs can do a great job If not every pregnant women should be supplemented an artificial pill like nutrition should be produced and given by government  and charities.

Smoking

If we google the facts about the infant's immune system; smoking will be visualized as a cause of child's ill health. It is one of the reasons which deteriorates both mother’s and child’s health because lungs are the weak spot in the premature baby and will affect it’s cell, hence leading to lung related autoimmune disease, diabetes, cancer like diseases.

In India; though no of  active women smokers are very lesser but most of the women are more prone to danger for passive smoking.

Prevention:

The simple solution is not to smoke; if not , not to smoke in the public place and in every place where a woman or child could encounter passive smoke. Despite of cigarette smoke there will be so many smokes that could give out Carbon monoxide and Sulphur-di- oxide which could affect the leucocytes in the blood of humans. These have to be monitored by just avoiding the smoke of vehicle “Travel in a public vehicle” dispose the factory chimneys by innovative  strategies.

Vaccination

Though the vaccination in India is proving effective in doses of OPV, DPT, MMR, BCG because they are free of cost and available in all possible hospitals; but, most of the vaccines like Hepatitis,Rota virus vaccines could not even reach rich  people because of lack of awareness. But from May  2013 Indian scientists proved an effective vaccine for Rota virus named as “Rotovac” which is available in the market at the cost of Rs.50 which was around 1000 before.

What we can do is spreading the message through social networking and other sources because lack of awareness is the major cause for the failure of these vaccinations; which, otherwise could save millions of children in India.

Environment

Children’s health always related to the possible environmental causes.. A good food, water, air could definitely prevent Gastrointestinal disease and lung diseases. Proper sanitization will prevent  most of the  airborne diseases . Monitoring water bodies, puddles, drainages can prevent flying vector borne diseases.

“Clean environment is the Safe Environment” Making this a motto, it can  look simple but works wonders.

Washing hands and good sanitary practice safeguard the whole human community.

Request to Doctors

Though doctors are not really responsible for children's health directly, but they are the media that can impact people of the country like India; because, people believe only doctors. Doctor’s should study the microbes thoroughly which they do only for academic purpose . Pressure to the doctors to give antibiotics often may leads to multi drug resistance which is dangerous for the future and doctors have to avoid this.

Conclusion

·         Proper Food to child and mother filled with cereals, milk, egg, fruits.
·         Clean environment.
·         Breast feed awareness and encouragement.
·         Proper Diagnosis of diseases aided by Bio-technology.
·         Avoid active and passive smoking as much as possible.
·         Vaccination and its awareness creation.
·         Social awareness through various ways.
·         Educating people.

Ranga Payana- Journey from darkness to luminiscence

The blog below is content of the website of "Ranga Payana" theatre group which is been translated  from kannada.

What is the disagreement in the lightening smile of innocent hearts? In the barrack marking famishes and pain, hundreds of dreams.  Ample of examples for those ingenuous hearts, guiding their simple life, blending themselves with one’s and all with no demur.   Trembled in meaningless satire observances .Unbearable life of these children startled us. Miserable exploitation, leading to un-happiness in their lives. Battling for pin-money, giving up their schooling for those tiny chores, not acquiring a good job, dreadful their futurity, without position, deprived of the valuable thoughts of life. Ironically even today this is a question…

Though the complexion of Topsy-curvy insecurity and suppression varies. In these cities children suffer loneliness, struggling from fascism of parents and small families, suffocated schooling and lessons, punishments, every prevailing loss and disgrace. Significantly the children who are under pressure of competition, who are scoring marks for someone’s happiness suffer a mental drawback. Children who are deprived of opportunities, quarantined their schooling, enrolled themselves in money making and unusual activities. Children who dream of school serving their family as child labor, children of unusual mentality prevailed around us. Encouraging backward, needy children’s education. And there by kickoff the basement for future. we are the responsible for children physical and mental stability. In order take off initiation “Ranga Payana” journey from darkness to luminescence.

Our motto is to encourage education, to spurt up the repressed child, to bring the labors, slum children, blind children to the main stream of society from darkness to luminescence by conducting adventurous camps, theater activities mental ability classes.  Providing free schooling, providing books and building libraries.

Come let’s put hand together and move in “Ranga Payana” journey from darkness to luminescence.

SMALL IDEA BIG IMPACT

Small Idea Big Impact

Watching Sanitary pad box; boy gibe’s at a girl “Bread, for whom”, for which girl got exasperated and answers “it’s for you come in the morning you will get it with tea”.

Don’t know how much we make fun of it. Even in metropolitans, men of age 16 to 26 who are aware of the product whoop out a laugh at sanitary pads, rather than treating it  as a normal stationary.

People who talk about using condoms, sexual education and its importance Blah Blah, they themselves are the part of sexual comics written on Sanitary pads.

When we look over, every day millions of women in India; in-fact; globally, women suffer over their monthly sexual cycle an even it’s a matter of hesitant to them to express, even in front of their husband.

Have you ever used gunny bags, rags or saw dust to small wounds or cuts to avoid infection?  I think the answer will be No, but it’s true and horrible that Indian women were using these, to protect their genital issue called as a menstrual period. It’s a matter to think and even today many orthodox Indian families treat women as untouchables, rather than solicitude to women during their menstrual periods.

Off course, this is a global issue; Still no one thought of it, neither the women activists/associations nor the women and child welfare ministry. Though, multinational companies given a solution to this issue; but, it were not reachable middle class or poor class.

When this problem was a taboo, he came up with an idea Mr.Arunachalam Muruganantham. “Small idea big impact” was his product's motto and he reached his goal. Today, number of sanitary pad users increased to 3.5 million and more.

What he has done was a simple research and based on which he reduced the cost of sanitary pads by framing a simple machine for its production. This was crucial initiation. He experimented his products on his wife, sisters, some outsiders and finally on himself. Such was his passion and concern over this small issue (as per world).

One might think, what a sanitary pad can do for the country. It’s true that it solved  the problem of millions of women around the country .  It provided jobs to thousand across the country, even at the top part of the Himalayas. Most importantly, those who started earning from the machine were poor women.

His simple thinking, a passion for his concern, non-greedy business strategies made him a successful entrepreneur and though his accent of English is not a great one, but today he is one of the finest and the humorous orator in all major business schools of India.

It is not surprising for anybody, since he received Presidents award, but it was  still special when he received it  from first the women president of India.

Thanks to Arunachalam Muruganantham and his small idea and big impact that relieved millions of women around the country.  Hats off to him for leading meaningful inspirational  life.

It was a chaos
And dirty little thing for us
He took that dirty little problem
And solved it with small idea his name was Muruganantham.

BOOK OF MEMORIES

Opened the book of memories
left were just  the tears
When tears were the words
Poems that born were hundreds

Don’t know where you travelled
never returned back, from the unseen world,
Pressing a pause
To the pace of our happiness

On and on memorizing
Your smile
Yet the pool of tears disguise
Oh dear! How to forget the fear of turmoil

To forget your face, I tried hard
To forget is it a half blossomed bud
Even the flower can fade
How is it possible to forget your end.

Oh my friend
Your memories are immortal,
Infinite, impeccable, recurring
