Use Social Apps Effectively, Help Build The Nation.

Experienced in my small town; where, people talking in tea shops about the elections and the profile of the candidates in the contest, trends, probability of the winning and losing candidate , which area may vote to which candidate, whether it is cast, or money that is going to take part in the election and  the list goes on and these tea shops were the social stages for the people to talk about the politics just a few years ago.

But today is the era of Android and windows, where millions of people using the man’s finest invention called as Smart phones.  According to a new study, there are 51 million smartphone users in urban India, an increase of  89% is  expected every year  from 2012. India ranks fifth among the countries  using smartphone.

It’s not just in bigger cities, but spreading viral in small towns and cities which I experienced myself. One of the construction workers who was illiterate messaged his owner in Whatsapp’ ; that he is not coming to work for a day. This was a small incident which inspired me to scribble this.
Times of India reports says The number of social media users in urban India reached 62 million by December 2012, and it is estimated to reach 66 million by June 2013.

Role of Social media and Apps
·         38% of those who use social networking sites (SNS)  promote material related to politics or social issues that others have posted.
·         35% have used social networking sites to encourage people to vote .
·         34% have used the tools to post their own thoughts or comments on political and social issues.
·         33% have used the tools to re-post content related to political or social issues, that was originally posted by someone else.
·         31% have used the tools to encourage other people to take action on a political or social issue.
·         28% have used the tools to post links to political stories or articles for others to read.

This statistic tells  the role of Social media and apps like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, WeChat, blogger, Hike messenger, Skype, Youtube, Yahoo messenger, Rediffmail on general elections.

I was chatting with my friend whose thinking made him a  philanthropist as he always talk about society, country, people. As the discussion moves on, the  topic came to elections and the truth came out, his age is 26 and he never voted not even once in his lifetime in any elections; either it may be local body elections or parliamentary elections.

He spent 9 years of his life after getting power to vote. This is just an example. Even those who talk of development, nation, politics do not vote, the people talking about responsibility forget their responsibilities. It is the question of choosing leaders who lead your place, It is the question of the leaders who rules your area, it is the question of the leaders who build your nation.

In his book “How I BRAVED ANU AUNTY AND CO-FOUNDED A MILLION DOLLAR COMPANY’ Arun Agarwal writes, how kitty parties and the voices in the party helped him to start and improve his business. He adds mouth to mouth spreading is the greatest way to increase business. The same can be implied to raise our voice through social apps.

On December 31, I was resolving  a conflict between two of my friends, who fought a lot in Whatsapp chat, and I was successful to rejoin them. There I thought social apps are our voices now.

When we see the traditional way of elections, youth show dis-interest, especially the one who are far away from their place. There can be many reasons for their dis-interest.

1. Wish not to go home just to cast vote.
2. Disinterest in elections.
3. Lack of awareness.
4. Lack of profile candidate.
5. Disinterest in politics.
6. Disgusted of the system and many more.

The reasons can be many and this is why 60-65% voting still hold the record in India.  Importantly the voting in youths is still a miserable statistics.

When we keenly observe the growing popularity of social sites and use of internet; social apps can be a good choice to increase voting in youth. Most of us might have observed  US presidential elections, where the candidate's profile will be available in every social site;especially in micro-blogging sites like Twitter.

India is no less to the US and thanks to man’s finest invention Smartphone.

The emergence of the AAP in Delhi proved the different strategy of election and motto. They have pulled the youth to polling booths, and they won the election to break records.

The next person who used social apps effectively to gain youth's confidence is Mr.Narendra Modi. There are a number of apps on his speeches and videos, even Youtube is making a big impact definitely. If I open my FB page, there will be at least one post on Modi.

It’s good that, the Election Commission of India has brought the Internet and social media under the election code of conduct. The Election Commission has issued a notification, according to which candidates are required to declare educational qualification and criminal records and details of their social media accounts.

What Can be done:
1. Make apps that helps everyone to acquire information of election procedure right from getting voter card to the prime minister oath.

2. Collect information of every candidate in every constituency and post them in social apps and spread it as much as possible.

3. Build games that encourage the people to get interest in politics.

4. last thing can be done by election commission ; they can form online polling booth  to allow everybody tovote to any constituency from such booths all through india.

Social apps are the things on which youth are fond off, Use Social Apps Effectively, Help Build The Nation.

Story of Brave lady who made my day

Story of Brave lady who made my day

I was at my first Indiblogger meet -Milaap Bangalore IndiBlogger Meet” which took place at “Microsoft Research India Labs Pvt. Ltd” near Bangalore club.

I was obviously happy in meeting fellow bloggers who have been writing for years, with a hope of happiness in this kind of social meets, expecting a lot of fun, I was at #HopeProjectAs expected event started well with beautiful girlAditi” initiated the event that could challenge the scribblers like me, it was to describe the meaning of hope in one word.

Each of us in the meet wrote our great thinking in a word which showed the zeal of the event. “Education” “Unity” “Congnizance” “Truth” “smile” “ Health” “ Security” “Renaissance” etc. These were the word of hope that came out on paper and photographs.

 The word of  Hope

Never says Nope

The event went even further when each of the bloggers introduced themselves and their blogs. Each of them Explained the word “ Hope” for them. When my turn came I was nervousand I stuttered to utter words, heartbeat increased, fear in mind increased my body temperature, sweat flow all through my body, Hush! I finished my introduction.

After this, the real event initiated, the event for which we were all at Microsoft Research Labs. Milaap  #HopeProject .

The Hope Project is a campaign that aims to inspire urban masses towards, empowering rural women entrepreneurs through small contributions. What makes this project special is that the women in this case are ex-Devadasis and the possibility of self-reliance is a ray of fierce hope for them. Within the Devadasi system, young girls are “married” to the temple goddess. This merciless practice, though illegal, still exists in small towns of India.

The event was to raise funds for the welfare of the women who came out of “Devadasi” system; and, this is where I got my chance to talk, the stories they put on slides impressed me, after which when I got up to talk, the fear in me disappeared and I boldly put up my points to reach the root of cause to eradicate the evil. After all this there was one more event of puzzle and high tea.

Once the tea session was over “Milaap” team member introduced “Sitavva’ a lady who braved the society to come out of Devadasi system. Being a former devadasi, she fought really hard and jumbled hundreds of other Devadasis, rescued them from the black system and formed a union called as “MASS”. With the help of “Ministry of women and Child welfare”  they reached the root of the cause and the weed was in threat,  they legally took the issue and penalized the culprits who force the girls into the system despite of ban, and result was the eradication of Devadasi system in the entire Belgaum district of Karnataka. Sitavva says this proudly and her desire are still high, to rescue the women in the entire state and country. She emerged a leader, a brave musketeer who penalized the evils in the society.

In her speech she also told some of the lesson known behind the system. She told only  the girls of lower cast are made “Devadasi’s”. “Poverty”, “Lack of Rain”, “Lonebaby girl for the parents” “Girl born after many boy babies” and so many of them are the resons behind the evil. It was un-fortunate to know the silly reasons, which were the seeds of poison  and which has grown as a tree of the evil system in the society.

After her speech I went to “Sitavva” and had a little conversation with her in north Karnatakan dialect, where she expressed some more strange things. She told "Government stopped helping them, corruption filled in the women and child welfare department, neither ministers nor official’s respond to their requests, society see them lower despite of coming into the main stream of life, their children won’t get good jobs, their daughters won’t get boys to marry". Talking to me her eyes grown wet, and I was stunned silent. The black is not only the system, but the society itself; which still sees these brave ladies as culprits. The problem is in politics and corruption, the challenge is to eradicate the superstition in the people that is inherited in our blood.
Whatever; the work of Sitavva and the work Milaap  and everyone has to say “Hats off” to their effort. And everyone should give the help in all means for the cause they are working for and here is the no of Sitavva-94489952899.

Wishing Everyone a Happy and safer Diwali

Wishing Everyone a Happy and safer Diwali

Diwali is a treat to eyes, every Indian streets gleam with colors and flash of light. Beautiful Indian women, cute little angel like children and hardworking Indian men looks great on the day after wearing a classic new clothes and ethnic wears.

Indian houses will be charmed with the fresh look of new painted walls, with every door and corners looking beautiful after ornamented with green leaves of mango and coconut, canes, varieties of flowers and many more of them. Every House smells sweet because of the number of sweets that are prepared for the festival. The aroma is really a whiff of the great Indian culture and the tangy celebration.

For everyone it’s usual to greet and wishing the best.

Overall                                                                                                                                                       Diwali is a carnival                                                                                                                                     Is there anybody who dis-like the fest?                                                                                                     Because it’s the essence of feast and delight

One of the most fascinating things about Diwali is burning of crackers; from Children of age 9 youngsters, from hot blood lads to bashful girls, every one burn crackers in India. Hence the festival looks simply a joyous one and real pomp.

But the same delight looks blight because of the accidents that happens every year on the occasion of Diwali. Don’t know how many of them loose the sight in the bliss of delight. As the quote says "darkness prevails just behind the light". Darkness touches so many lives just after the festival of lights.

If we go through the statistics about the accidents that take place in cracker industries at Sivakasi- where India’s 70% crackers and matches are produced. They give some shocking stats.

1991- 39 killed 65 injured
2009- 40 killed
2011- 7 killed 5 injured
2012- 40 killed 38 injured

Despite these major ones, there are lots of unnoticed accidents too.

Along with accidents, it’s a matter of air and sound pollution which should be the matter of concern. If we look at this aspect. The best solution is to reduce, if we cannot stop the cracker burning.

Whatever is the he aspect, the fest is a fest and safety is must.

Happy and safe Diwali to everyone.
